Shake That Thing!


Time to share my absolute favorite protein powder...

I think it's important to find a protein powder you jive with because I know for myself it is hard to get in as many grams of protein throughout the day as you technically should with just meat, yogurt and eggs or if you are vegetarian through beans, lentils and soy. You should aim for 1 gram of protein to as many pounds you weigh in a day. So for example if you are 150lbs, then you should be eating 150 grams of protein per day.

Protein powder adds in a quick 20-30 grams in a delicious smoothie for breakfast or a snack.

I naturally want to eat all the carbs for breakfast instead of eggs or meat which is not the healthiest. So instead I take a left turn and choose a smoothie filled with fruits, vegetables and the healthiest protein powder on the planet, Shakeology.

I have been in the fitness industry for 16 years now and up until 3 years ago, I could never recommend a protein powder product that I believed in wholeheartedly. I came across Shakeology when I was getting ready to walk down the aisle. I was having trouble with my skin and had posted on facebook that I needed something that would help with breakouts before my wedding day. I knew that it would have to be something I ingested because I know that whatever food you put in your body shows up on your skin when you are susceptible to breakouts. A woman got a hold of me and suggested this protein powder called shakeology that is packed with indigenous ingredients from all over the world. It is made to help you lose weight, increase your energy, improve your focus, aide in skin, nail and hair health, lower your blood pressure... I mean the list went on and on. I then read that one scoop was the equivalent to eating 5 salads. I already felt like it was tough to get all my veggies in for the day so anything to help with that as well and I am sold! Although it was pricey, I would do anything for clear skin on my wedding day! I bought a bag and have been on it ever since (well, technically I had to stop just a couple months ago because I am taking prenatal vitamins and my autoimmune disease does not like a certain level of B and C vitamins in my system and Shakeology is pumped full of vitamins).

Since drinking shakeology I lost body fat, my skin cleared up when drinking it, I had more energy and it helped boost my mood.

I loved drinking it either in the morning or right after my workout for a quick recovery drink. I also noticed my muscles were less sore the next day after a rigorous workout which was also a plus.
